“Australians are shivering and trying to escape the rain in the coldest start to summer for 50 years.”

“Bondi beach can get up to 40,000 sunbathers, swimmers and surfers on a good summer’s day, but on many occasions this December there have been only a handful of people on the sand or in the sea.

“Two weeks ago, Brisbane recorded its coldest December day for 123 years.”

12 Responses to Australia – Coldest summer in 50 years

  1. Ben Sanor says:

Dead-on. I am in Melbourne, it is 60 right now, nothing close to 90 forecast for the foreseeable future.

  2. Rosco says:

Well I am not complaining – normally here in SE Queensland it is around 20 C 86 F which may not sound hot but when you factor in our normally high humidity levels feels like another 10 degrees.

May it continue – has been cloudy much of the time but has been bright and sunny for a few days – currently about 25 C at 7:45 am.

Dark spot on horizon is the possible formation of first cyclone (hurricane) in the Coral Sea.

  3. Rosco says:

    Should have been 30 C 86 F not 20 C

  4. Merry Christmas, Australians. May-be it is a good idea to send a Christmas card to your prime minister, Julia Gillard. If I may give you a suggestion: there is a nice picture on Roberts’ website. “Global warming is now causing global cooling. Change our computer models to predict this.” “I’m on to it boss, how much cooler do you want it to warm?”. But don’t forget to pay your carbon taxes in time, folks.

Brisbane forcast for next week nothing above 30, this is not our usual summer, very cool. Rob have been a follower of your site for some years now, I believe you are right.

And I am in Sydney. Worse than the rain is the gray.
    Every day, cloudy and gray.
My tomatoes and peppers have mostly rotted or been eaten by hookworms. The were on the plant, fully grown for 3 to 4 weeks. Never ripened. Usually in Australia these things ripen in a matter of a couple of days.

  7. Lloyd Robins says:

It’s very strange weather here in Brisbane – feels more like London at the moment (though not as cold). When the sun comes out it’s lovely, but the clouds have been so prominent the sun doesn’t get a chance to warm anything. During Summer, from December through sometimes as late as March, it’s common for the nights to be intolerable without fans, airconditioning, anything to keep cool, but recently, I’ve been needing blankets….

  8. Siliggy says:

As well as being cold it is wet.
Over on the other side where it is supposed to be “Drying out” (a prediction the warmists clung to after the Eastern Oz Permanent drought predictions failed)in the south west corner of Western Australia, there are some places that have not yet received 400 percent of the months average rainfall:

The drying out is so bad that this year there are some areas there that have not yet received 125 percent of a years average rainfall.

      Nice one Siliggy.
Definitely cold and wet in the Blue Mtns of Sydney too. Fire alight on the solstice and still wearing winter long trousers on the building site. Being kept awake by myriads of croaking frogs. Normally, hot and dry this time of year with occasional afternoon storms.
      Bring back that global warming.
Anyone got an address for Al-baby so I can send him a Chrissy card.

    • Laurel says:

uh? but thats the damn desert areas anyway, so whats new there?
the cyclone forming right now may just change that anyway- Santa may not “do” darwin again this year, unless he has gummies and a Zodiac.

  9. Laurel says:

yup, probably only 5 days over 30c where I am, and a few days before xmas and its only 23c inside with all doors wide open, I would normally be coping with 33c+ inside at night, I use no aircon or fans until daytime temps hit 36+C. fan is still wrapped up and in the shed where it seems likely to be staying:-)
Even two years back when we had the massive bushfire, the day before and the day of the fire were almost the only truly nasty summer days we had. it rained heavily the day after the fires.
and despite the Claims…of the fires being due to warming..it was standard causes ie HUMAN firebugs started a goodly part of the blaze.the superdry days with high north winds are often followed with dry storms with lightning, more than enough evidence to show its been happening naturally for millenia like that. add a few humans with matches and a crazy mind..nasty.
now watch this cool news be totally ignored by MSM
