New Mexico resident says he hasn’t seen such a storm since the 1970s, when cattle had to be airlifted with helicopters and the National Guard helped out.

“Fierce winds and snow that caused fatal road accidents and shut highways in five states are crawling deeper into the Great Plains today, says this article in the Daily Mail.

“About 10 inches of snow had fallen in western Kansas before dawn on Tuesday, and several more inches were expected. ‘We’re talking about whiteout conditions,’ meteorologist Marc Russell said.

“Nearly 100 rescue calls came in from motorists in Texas as blizzard conditions forced closed part of a major route.”

Meanwhile, farmers say the storm is bringing good moisture to Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas.

Every time I read an article like this I am stunned at how similar it is to the 1978 Novel “ICE” by Arnold Federbush. He laid it all out way back then. It is amazingly precient. Seems to have even got the science right and manages to get the jump on the global warming goons by at least a decade. Not to be suggesting a conspiracy, but he died very shortly after it was published. Of lung cancer. He had never smoked a day in his life.

The book is about how a modern society deals with the rapid onset of a new ice age. Great read. If it is even 50% acurate we are in for some really tough times.

Have you read “Fallen Angels” by Larry Niven, Jerry Pournelle and Michael Flynn? May be something like our future will look.
