A storm battering north-western France since Thursday night has left 400,000 homes without electricity, disrupted rail traffic and grounded a ship that spilled oil off the coast of Brittany.

The storm, with wind gusts up to 80 miles (133 km) per hour and waves up to 22 feet (7m) high, was moving its way inland today, with Swiss authorities reporting it caused a train to derail in Switzerland, lightly injuring three people.

  1. It is interesting that this item was not presented on the television news in the Netherlands. To be informed about weather news that is not consistent with the bogus philosophy of global warming, we Europeans have to consult an Australian website.
