How will people in Florida cope with this cold? Have they got heaters there?

    • I was in Lake Dora Florida, an hour north of Orlando, for a week last January and then a week a month thru April. It was COLD down there. The hotel had to bring in electric heaters as there was not any built in heat in the rooms. I was also in San Felipe, Mexico (at the top of the Sea of Cortez) for two weeks last January, and they had NO heat either. A friend who lived there had to loan me one of his propane heaters (Mr. Heater, great things).

BUT, it was better than being in Boston. I left there on December 20th, 2010, the DAY it started snowing, and did not return for five months. But I did need my long underwear in Florida and Mexico, if you can believe that!

Last night was definately fun here in SW Florida (North Port). Thrid year in a row my water pipes have frozen. Best part is it started frosting again tonight at 10pm. And we have some heaters gotta keep the pups warm

Will this have an impact on orange production?

WE’RE ALL GONNA DIE! I had a little frost on the roof of my Jeep this morning, my dog did his business a little quicker than usual this morning, I even started the Jeep and let it warm up for a few minutes before leaving for work. I managed to get through the crisis just fine, but hey I moved down here when I retired from the Navy. I was born and raised in northern Indiana so I remember cold and this ain’t it…

  6. They should stop growing oranges in Florida, too cold climate thanks to non existent “global warming”.
