Glaciers are growing on Kilimanjaro, guide insists
“From 2010 to now, we have been seeing new glaciers,” says guide.
Athumani Juma, a guide who’s been hiking Mount Kilimanjaro for the past seven years, laughed when asked about the likelihood that Kilimanjaro’s snowcap would soon disappear.
The glaciers are no longer are shrinking, but growing, Juma replied.
“Before, we were seeing glaciers melting,” Juma explained during a recent descent from the summit. “But from 2010 to now, we have been seeing new glaciers.”
Some scientists and environmental activists claim that the mountain’s glaciers could disappear perhaps before the end of the decade, another victim of rising global temperatures.

The “Warmist” have been telling us for decades that AGW is shrinking the world’s glaciers. Fact is, ice can and does disappear even when the temperature is below freezing. Ever leave an ice cube tray of ice in your deep freeze for several months? You probably noticed when you took them out that they had shrunk considerably. The process is called E-Vap-O-Ration and it happens whether the air is warm or cold. The only requirement is that the air be dry. Cold air can be as dry, or drier, than warm air. Ever notice how dry it feels on those bright sunny Winter days after a weather front passes through? Yep, it’s that nice, cold, DRY Arctic air that is responsible.!
So, it doesn’t surprise me that the glaciers were shrinking and are now growing. The mountain is probably experiencing more wet weather in recent years….
Evaporation has as much, and maybe more, to do with humidity than temperature. Cold air can be dry or wet; same for hot air. Thus, we can not judge ice accumulation or depletion solely upon air temperature. We must consider that humidity factors at least equally into the equation.
The temperature on Kilimanjaro was never responsible for the shrinking glaciers – only a global warming alarmist fool could ever believe that – if the temperatures that high in the atmosphere rose above freezing and caused melting we’d all know about it.
Kilimanjaro’s glaciers are not melting because of global warming – the surrounding land clearances have reduced thermal uplift and decreased the moisture content of the air resulting in reduced precipitation on the mountain.
Reduced precipitation and sublimation of the ice and snow is responsible for the shrinkage – the temperature never approaches the melting point of the ice.
Another stupid non-scientific debunked alarm – where do these people get their PhDs ????
therefore… increasing glaciers would necessarily mean *lower* temperatures. One word: cooling.
I suspect the drier atmosphere caused by CO2 (this, contrary to warming, is a scientifically proven effect of CO2 in connection with plants retention of water, less transpiration:

and

) could also be affecting the jet stream. I believe this, but I have no reference/link for it.
