“Plate tectonics seems to be going on a little faster, at a quickened rate in this area,” say volcanologists. “Why? We don’t know.”

Visible in this NASA satellite image taken on 7 Jan 2012, the new island – added to the Zubair group  of islands during the past month – sits atop a giant shield volcano in the Red Sea where Africa and Arabia plates are pulling apart. See larger photo:

Last week, volcanologists Rob Dennen and Rick Wundermanin the Smithsonian’s Global Volcanism Program, answered questions about the new island.

The “new” volcano has probably been erupting episodically underwater for thousands of years, say the two volcanologists. “While its above-surface dimensions are roughly 1,739 feet east-to-west and 2,329 feet north-to-south we know the larger submerged shield it sits on is about 12.5 miles across.”

The vulcanologists “don’t know” why the Plate Tectonics are moving at a “quickened rate” or they are not permitted to state what is really going on???

There are many credible scientists who DO understand why this is happening and have stated why this type of event is occurring. That the ‘official version’ is to deny reality should come as no surprise to anyone.

Hi Frank – care to expand on your comment please? Or provide a link where I can read up on it. Thanks.

Oh no…new land for a terrorist training center.

  3. Theo says:

Maybe this is what happened with the Passenger Cruise Ship off the Italian coast?
Nothing on the map and suddenly “boom” there is a rock!!

Here’s an observation and a question:

With all these new islands being created via undersea volcanoes, is someone estimating how much these will cause the see level to rise from the displacement? Someone better get on this because if it is measurable, you know the AGW alarmists will be pointing at the data saying it’s a result of land ice melting!

Who determines who owns this new land! It has to be in international waters? I think I would like a sea side lot – 2 to 10 acres for a vacation spot once it settles and cools down sufficiently!!
I can see the sales pitch – “Hot new vacation land available – landscaper’s delight!”

See expanding earth theory. The oceans will alway go lower in the long term. This due to tectonic expansion and is offsetting any displacement such as island formation by many many times.

      • Tom Park says:

Yes I have seen this theory. There are issues with it related to the amount of water, where it came from, etc. I guess the key to which phenomenon governs is the timescale over which it operates. In our time, I don’t believe we have recorded a measurable expansion of our earth (that’s why it’s a theory!) but we are seeing new rock volume being created below the seas which therefore should govern and the sea level should trend up. However, there are probably 30 different factors governing the depth of the oceans, so it it would be hard to isolate and tease out the effect of one or two.

    Hey Frank,

It is a surprise to me – You say “There are many credible scientists who DO understand why this is happening and have stated why this type of event is occurring.”

Please give us a reference so we can see for ourselves. To obliquely refer to something is not credible and only obfuscates reality. Thank you!
