Valdez, Alaska – Snowiest December – and maybe season – on record
“December has gone down as the “snowiest” December on record with 152.2 inches measured.”
The 2011-2012 season is on pace with the snowiest season on record which was 1989-1990 when Valdez measured 560 inches. As of 2pm on January 5, 2012, the seasonal total is 246.6 inches.”

Please keep in mind the Global Warming Fools predicted “our children will grow up not knowing what snow is.”
Who would of thunk it? All this Global Warming is making for record snowfall in Alaska … and dang near everywhere else it snows! LoL
Interesting to note that in 3 of the snowiest seasons in Alaska, there was severe snow drought in one other major geography.
1988 and 1989, Europe’s ski season was badly affected by a slow-moving high pressure which sat over the mountains for 2 months and more.
This year, much of California, Utah and Colorado have had their worst start to a ski season in 20 years or more.
It’s swings and roundabouts…….
And standing by, waiting for the imminent announcement and explanation by ALGORE how this happened BECAUSE of “global warming” from driving SUV’s etc.
Tourism to see the polar bears may slow down a bit?
I wouldn’t worry about any snow drought anywhere. Valdez and Switzerland prove that. The only reason for lack of snow in certain areas so far is because we do not yet have a blocking regime over the Arctic/Greenland areas. Once that happens and once we get a pattern of increased storminess across the nation with this new cold pattern, snow will come with a vengeance and set new records as overall snowfall continues to increase rapidly.
Grandad lived in Valdez in the 90′s. 1890′s that is, up until the 1920′s. Wonder what he would make of this. He passed at 103! Some of the old photos he took with his Kodak brownie show snow at least 20 to 30 foot deep. Looks like we are on pace to match those old photos.
Alaska just had its 3rd warmest December on record.
