Snow forecast for Sahara Desert
Parts of north Africa face six inches of powder, says Meteogroup forecaster Stephen Davenport. “The deep cold is spreading surprisingly far south.”
“It will deliver snow to Sicily, Sardinia and Corsica and, most remarkably, possible low level snow in north Africa, although it is unlikely to settle.”
The Sahara Desert, which had no snow for 33 years until last month, faces an inch of snow by the weekend.

Are You Prepared?

I recommend this DVD

Imagine cross-country skiing in the Sahara!?
I just think its weird that places that normally dont get any snow are getting it in a big way!but places all over the USA havent had any at all! It feels Like “Spring outside,, in middle Georgia!and the flowers are coming out now!I think Winter skipped us here,, it went from Fall weather to Spring weather,,with very small cold spells that are short lived! it was 74f deg. today! Im sure next winter will be just the opposite in the states.oh yeah, most of the Sahara isnt a far cry in latitude south,of where florida is in locality north to where the tropical zone starts.
“the flowers are coming out now!”
And boom they are all frosted to death by the unexpected (for warmist atleast)return to winter.
I do not dismiss at all, that it will occur,,we had the blizzard of 1993 after everything started blooming, then died afterwards, delaying recovery of plants until sometime that April! During the blizzard of 1993 where I live at the time we had a Foot of snow, with drifts in some spots as much as 4 ft
—well, they ski and skate in Dubai (all right, they do do it indoors…!)
shareeem wont like it
rock the casbah, rock the casbah!
wonder how camels feel about cold and snow??
Apparently all regular journalists were born after the year 2011, the year (oh, so long ago) when:
o 49, that’s forty-nine, folks, out of the 50 states in the USA had snow on the ground at the very same time,
o all-time record snow depths were set at many locations across the American West, and
o multiple resorts offered downhill skiing on July 4th.
Are the weather commentators really TRYING to look so forgetful and ill-educated?
It’s like that famous novel, where people’s memory faded so much they had to start pasting labels onto every object, so they could remember the names of things…until eventually even the memory of how to read began to fade.
That’s how ice ages begin. I think we are entering a major ice age also.
It’s Human caused Global Warming at work. Just like the climate scientists predicted decades ago. Increasingly erratic weather patterns, frigid cold and snow in unusual places, while overall the thermometer continues to climb. Interesting that even as parts of Eastern Europe set all time record lows, the high arctic and eastern Siberia are 20-30F above normal. But that’s what happens when postive NAO and positive PNA work against a negative AO episode. Meanwhile, another Antarctic glacier is preparing to break off another gigantic chunk of itself.
Another Ice Age my a**!
Maunder Minimum – well the sun is past its lull in activity and did the earth cool? Nope! End that little fantasy!
Record snowfall and record-low temperatures across an enormous swath of Europe, and you call it “human-caused global warming at work.” It’s incomprehensible to me how some people’s brains work. Or don’t work.
couldn’t agree with you more
You are totally wrong on that one man. I don’t know where you can prove such absurdity, but your claims are TOTALLY and utterly wrong.
First of all, average temps are getting colder since about 1940 – there has been global cooling in progress since 1940 overall – and more significant cooling since 2000 especially. We have a major cooling trend in progress. (temps fell 1.7 F from 2007 Jan to 2009 Jan, based on satellite observations)
Furthermore, temperatures are still falling over land. More snow, heavier snow, record snows, greater snow extent, low solar activity, a cooling upper atmosphere and the approaching ice age is the reason why we are seeing more erratic (or more extreme) weather patterns worldwide. The last time we entered an ice age, we also experienced increasing extremes in weather. Sea levels are FALLING dramatically every year since 2010 as glaciers continue to grow – and many are surging. 90+ percent of all ice is growing on the planet.
About your ice concerns, ice always “breaks off” here and there – it means NOTHING at all. When the weight of a glacier gets very high or when expanding ice moves against seawater, it can crack, bend or break off quite easily. Oh and don’t forget that sea water is saltwater LOL ! I guess you are either brainwashed by CNN or MSNBC, or have not looked at any of the links on the left hand side of this site. The ice age is coming, and it’s coming fast. Get an education please !
Were you on Ridlan growing up?I’d say it worked!!!Hot is cold,up is down….congratulations to our fine schools!!
That may explain our unusual warm winter then!
This is part of extreme weather before an ice age settles as I have noticed that each time we enter a weather phase it gets stuck on hyper mode.
Right now we haven’t been able to break off of this high pressure for over a year now.
