VISIBILITIES WILL BE REDUCED BY WESTERLY WINDS OF 20 TO 30 MPH WITH GUSTS TO 50 MPH CAUSING AREAS OF BLOWING SNOW. PERIODS OF INTENSE SNOWFALL MAY ALSO REDUCE VISIBILITIES AND CAUSE RAPIDLY ACCUMULATING SNOW.

    I’d like to add the list of freeze warnings now for most all of Pennsylvania for the end of April. Since the list is time sensitive, I’ll point out the most significant of the cold temperatures:

    CALM AIR WILL PROMOTE A WIDESPREAD HARD FREEZE. A FREEZE WARNING WAS ISSUED EARLIER TODAY FOR THE ENTIRE CWA BEGINNING IN THE NORTH AT
    03Z SAT AND THE CENTRAL/SRN ZONES AT 07Z SAT. THE FREEZE WARNING RUNS THROUGH 13Z SAT (which is 8AM EDT).
    MINS WILL RANGE FROM NEAR 20F IN THE NORTH…TO THE U20S AND LOWER 30S IN THE SOUTH. SOME OF THE PERENNIAL COLD SPOTS IN THE NORTH COULD POSSIBLY DIP INTO THE UPPER TEENS.

    After 73 yrs. in Montana, I’ve seen the terrible winters and the warmer ones. None in history as warm as this last one, that I know of. Browning is in the Guiness Book of Records for the greatest change of temperature in a 24 hr. period: from 80 above to 20 below. Fiddlin

    Its amazing how much snow continues to fall out west, Elevation or not, its impressive how many systems and moisture plus altitude temperatures to support snow through April into May.

    Over 2 feet of snow expected April 28th 2012 –

    * SNOW ACCUMULATION…21 INCHES OF SNOW WAS REPORTED AT THE SOUTH FORK OF THE SHIELDS RIVER EARLY SATURDAY MORNING. AN ADDITIONAL 3 TO 6 INCHES OF SNOW WILL FALL OVER THE CRAZY MOUNTAINS TODAY. THIS WILL RESULT IN STORM TOTAL ACCUMULATIONS OF 12 TO 26 INCHES.
