“The Newman government has confirmed it will wind up the “Office of Climate Change Propaganda” as part of its cost-cutting drive.”

“The Office of Climate Change, headed by former premier Anna Bligh’s bureaucrat husband Greg Withers, was created by the previous government in 2007 to oversee climate policy and programs.”

Looks like you folks down under have found your Chris Christie.
Is this truly a good thing though? Did this state level office do anything to stave off the (is it federal) national level govt?

    • David Kane says:

QLD did over 100 years ago. Namely the right to cecede, along with Western Australia. Not that it will come to that. The Federal government will be lucky if it sees out the year, with the current PM at least.

  2. Rosco says:

It is actually the state of Queensland Government and not the Federal Government that has done this.

The Federal Government is the Labor Party which introduced the carbon tax.

The Queensland Government was the Labor Party until a recent election where the Labor Party won only 7 seats out of 89 – they lost about 50 seats in this single election.

44% of the people polled in exit polls said the Federal Carbon tax was their main reason for their voting choice.

Naturally the minority Federal Labor Party government is terrified they will suffer the same result in a massive defeat in an election due before November 2013 – the Federal Opposition has promised to abolish the carbon tax if it wins.

  3. pike says:

Newman is the best leader QLD has had in many generations.

  4. tango says:

about time they should all be closed and stop this fraud all together to save australia from going down the gurgler

  5. Steve says:

Yes it is great to see this climate change/global warming madness starting to unravel here. The state of Qld is leading the way in Australia. By the way Qld is having nice cool weather at the moment. The climate has moved naturally into something similar to what I experienced in the 60′s/70′s.
    “Qld Cold Snap”

Our present Federal Labour government had generated almost 200 billion debt in 4.5 years. Its its eclipsed the hawke-keating government that generated 96 billion in 8 year and then took the Howard government 8 of their 12 years to payback. The Hawke Keating government also got rid of our equivalent to Glass Steagal and let the investment bankers get into bed with normal banks, etc. The abolition of Glass Steagal is so many places assured we would have the GFC.

The GFC is the excuse our government uses as an excuse, despite the biggest mining boom in world history happening in Australia.

I don’t think the average Australia has realised we now have debts that will take 15-20 years to payback even with the biggest mining boom in history.

The carbon tax is sham to help us pay for their waste. This government has really screwed over our nation for along time.

  7. FRANK says:

Now, if they would only put the AX to the stupid carbon Taxes they’ve enacted …

  8. Laurel says:

Rosco above got it right, Victoria also removed Labor party as well, theyre going down like ninepins as soon as elections happen:-)
however while Bailleau did stop some of the idiotic closures of already undersupplied power generation ie coal fired, the same man then approbved…the smart grid and :-(
    made the damn thing mandatory!
in spite of a truly damning report by the attorney generals dept.
so its a bit like the curates egg…good in part down here.
the real great move by Campbell newman was revoking the lock up of land from the enviro mob to hold and trash, and allowing on farm clearing on our own properties.
they reckon we gotta help feed the world, while taking valuable Private owned land out of use?
    morons.

  9. Emma says:

Thank god for that. I’m a Queenslander, and the newly elected Newman has been cutting useless policies and money wasters left right and centre. The federal election could not come soon enough!

  10. Dalarna says:

    Halleluja!

  11. spepper says:

Well that is certainly some welcome news– but doesn’t the mere act of Newman closing the “office” constitute a VIOLATION of their national Australian law that prohibits “speaking ill” of their “climate change” laws? Stay tuned….
