20 Responses to Massive number of record lows – In Summer

  1. John the 1st says:

Wow. I kept scrolling down looking for the end of the list but it just kept going.
    Thank you Ralph.

  2. Neil Love says:

As cold artic air masses move south, they generate areas of high air pressure, which allow the sunlight to reach the ground, thus the exceptional high temperatures and droughts affecting certain locations. Thus the out break of wild fires. However, the cold air is continuing to come south out of the artic, as well as north out of the antarctic. Interestingly the entire world is cooling down. After this very stormy and wet summer, we are going to suffer an early onset of autumn, with a severly cold winter. This is a global problem. Not just a local weather phenomenon. So long as the level of COSMIC RAY INDUCTION continue to be higher, the knock on effect is more cloud and haze and fog in the atmosphere, thus blocking out sunlight at altitude. Also in the longer term the cosmic ray induction is [in my opinion] driving volcanic and earthquake activity too. Volcanic eruptions are what will bring in the next Ice Age. Especially if we get a Super Volcano eruption. 74,000 years ago the world suffered such a super volcano. It erupted at Mount Toba in Sumatra. It brought on the great Ice Age and it is believed to have caused human civilization to have been almost brought to extinction. DNA reseach is showing that as a consequence of the Mount Toba eruption 74,000 years ago only 30 human females were left of the early human population. We homo sapien are all descended from those surviving thirty original human mothers.

    • Andrew says:

That’s very interesting Neil, do you have a link about that DNA research?

    • Theo says:

      Hey Neil
      Who is we the Homosapiens?
      Some are from homosapiens
      Some are from Neanderthal
So by the way DNA research I believe as much as CNN which is close to zero!

    • KT says:

Thanks for the insightful comment. Do you think the summers are becoming compressed? They seem like they are to me. Like we are getting hot, intense but much shorter periods of summer.

  3. Thanks for the post. It brings to mind that Professor David Keith of Harvard University, who is regarded as one of the top geo-engineers, stated during the Feb. 4th, 2010 Science and Technology meeting, that the richest people on the planet could perhaps afford to buy an ice age. 4. SteveSadlov says:

Several locations in FL, GA, SC and NC with incredible lows for this time of year a mere few miles from the Gulf Stream. Is the Gulf Stream getting ready to croak? That may be a real catalyst.

  5. Jason says:

The locations mentioned in GA,NC, and SC are either under Heat Advisories or Excessive Heat Warnings right now.

  6. fred says:

The number of records in both directions could mean our data set is not that large. I see for this location.

CLIMATE RECORD PERIOD 1890 TO 2012

122 years is nothing to the planet Earth. We have no idea what is really normal.

    • Joe says:

fred, you said i think more than anyone on here: ’122 years is nothing to the planet Earth. We have no idea what is really normal.’ Exactly! that statement speaks volumes.

    • JA says:

My thoughts exactly, esp. as it relates to the “hole in the ozone.” Readings of this “hole” BEGAN in about 1955 or 1960. So, they have about 60 years of data.
The earth is what?…. 2 BILLION YEARS OLD .
Frankly, no one has a clue what the “average” or “normal” hole size is. For all anyone knows, the “average” hole size is 1000 times larger than anything yet measured.
By the way, during the Little Ice Age today’s climate “scientists” would have been able to say ” we have so far 50 years of very cold winters and almost no summers; therefore we predict with utmost certainty that within 20 years vast ice sheets will once again cover much of the Northern Hemisphere.”
They would have been dead wrong.

  7. KirkMyers says:

I sent a note and a link to this page to Peter Spotts, the science reporter at the Christian Science Monitor. As expected he was hyping the current heat wave while ignoring all the record-low temperatures that were set this week. And, of course, he dutifully mentioned the “global warming trend” since the 1970s, ignoring the fact that global temperatures leveled off in the late 1990s are now on a slight decline.

Even climatologist Phil Jones at the University of East Anglia’s Climate Research Unit admitted in an interview with the BBC that there has been no statistically significant warming since 1998.

Nevertheless, the global warming myth continues to survive, due in large part to the mainstream media’s fascination with the earth-is-overheating tale.

New alltime record high temperature here in chattanooga tn 107f,the old record was 106f in 1952,but the monthly mean for june 2012 is just sligthtly above ave. We hear in the mid south would love to have some rain!

  10. QuentinF says:

Interesting I would say that record LOWS are more indicative of approaching cold period, like LIA, than record highs which are more indicative of jetstream shift.

  11. Don Sutherland says:

The big story has properly been the extreme heat. Daily record highs have been far more numerous than daily record lows. When one gets to monthly records, it was no contest whatsoever. Here’s the data for the last week of June:

    Daily record highs: 1,943
    Daily record lows: 275

    Monthly record highs: 572
    Monthly record lows: 1

  12. F. Guimaraes says:

Great information here, thanks for bringing this to our attention.

  13. Matt says:

Well since here in New Zealand they can move weather stations about a hundred meters and claim that this new location is one and a half degrees cooler ,so they “adjust” the data, and they have no problem putting weather stations in front of buildings air vents. My guess is that were not the only country to do so, therefore how many record highs were broken that shouldn’t have ,and how many record colds should have been broken?

  14. Tiger says:

What a load of crap. Of course there are new lows spotted around the universe. Variability is a given with weather. Issue here is what is average temps for globe doing over the months years and decades. It is UP. End of discussion. Liars can always use data to look like they have facts. See politician and lawyers for the rule book for lairs. 98% of atmospheric scientist are now in agreement of global warming due to CO2 and other gases, human or natural created, IDM. Pick a source or your graph…get some reality with science.
