Sweden – One of it’s coldest and wettest Junes since 1786
Stockholm has seen record amounts of rain in June, more than four times normal precipitation, meteorologists said on Tuesday.
“Stockholm has registered precipitation of 145.8 millimetres, compared with the normal level of 36.5 millimetres” for the month of June, the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI) said Tuesday on its website.
That is the highest level for the month of June since Swedish records began in 1786.
According to the SMHI, temperatures have been well below average in June, at just 13.3 degrees Celsius. Normal is 15.2°C.
On June 2, the temperature in Stockholm rose only to 6°C, the coldest high in 84 years. Earlier in the month one town recorded a temperature of 6°C below zero – the coldest June temperature in Sweden in 20 years. Up to 8 inches (20 cm) of snow even blanketed parts of northern Sweden.
Normally in the month of June, the mercury rises to 25°C or more on just days 5 days on average. This June the mercury never reached that mark. In fact it didn’t even reach the 22°C mark. The high temperature for June in Stockholm was only 21.6°C. This is only the second time the temperature has failed to reach 25°C in June in 92 years.
“Sweden’s climate has become both warmer and rainier because of global warming, and rainfall and storms have increased in recent years,” said an SMHI spokesman.
Uh huh. This is “only the second time the temperature has failed to reach 25°C in June in 92 years.” And the SMHI is blaming global warming?
Do you suppose this has anything to do with the low sunspot count?

As a Swede myself I know by experience that the “medelsvensson/everyday swede” have an unhealthy faith in our government and our massmedia. The swedish people are probably one of the most gullible people in Europe together with our neighbour Norway. Also, the swedish people are hopelessly stuck in traditions, and they tend to be extremely afraid of new circumstances. “Old habits die hard”, that is Sooo True here in the COLD Sweden. Global warming are now stuck in the swedish mind, it´s now a traditional thinking, only a “cold day in Hell” might take that delusion out of their heads. Please, pray for Sweden!
Hi Per-David,
yeah very serious trusting scarily schooled and indoctrinated societies will be THE worst to cope when SHTF.
the false belief everything can be controlled by experts and governments has been the ruin of many.
one bright thing? maybe?
at least you can store food for free outside, in the snow that wont be going away in future. think of the carbon you save…while you freeze your butts off over there.:-)
Eduardo Ferreyra President of Argentinian Foundation for a Scientific Ecology (FAEC) reports;
“We’re having in Argentina a series of Antarctic polar waves that has people shuddering. In Ushuaia an entire neighbourhood had to be evacuated because the cold froze water pipes and blocked natural gas valves. No heating, no cooking, streets with 2.5 metres of snow. In two weeks snowed more than an entire normal winter season.”

Global warming leads to glacial rebound, so we can now see that pattern in play as the precipitation moves towards the poles.
