Arctic Row team could be iced in for ten days
“Did you see the Arctic Row team trying to do a non-stop, unsupported row across the Arctic Ocean?” asks reader Juergen Uhlemann.
They are stuck right now because of a weather system “seldom seen in the Arctic.” A storm “is pushing mass amounts of ice in the direction of Barrow” and right into their rowboat.
The team is trying to raise awareness about the Arctic Ocean by undertaking the first, non-stop, unsupported row across the Arctic Ocean. They began in Inuvik, Canada and planned to land in Providenya, Russia.
According to the last three tweets from @arcticrow
Large sheets of ice are swiftly moving into Barrow, exposing the team to a dangerous pinch against coast
Team is backtracking to take cover. Incoming storm is a rare event in strength – even for the Arctic.
Once safe, team could be iced in for up to 10 days before ice retreats.
According to their website, the team’s 30 day, 1300 mile expedition is a meant to be an “historical feat as well as an exploration of Arctic related issues that affect us all: climate change, energy innovation & environmental protection.”
“In conjunction with leading climate change researchers,” the team wants to “observe and highlight the pace and extent of climate change in the Arctic.”
I’m thinking that being stuck in the ice for ten days is not the kind of “climate change” that they meant to highlight.

Are You Prepared?

I recommend this DVD

The real joke is that the row “across the Arctic Ocean” only covers about 20 miles of the 1300 miles. The Arctic Ocean is like an upside down triangle. Most of their row is along the Canadian and Alaska coast, but where the botton tip of the Arctic Ocean dips to its southernmost point, they were going to row “across” it.
Only six hundred an thirty eight miles to go (in a straight line). At 2 miles a day. They will be drawing attention to global cooling for quite some time.
A click on the place names gives the weather including wind direction.

The intrepid rowers are paddling their boats along the Alaska and Canada shoreline. How does that constitute “crossing the Arctic Ocean”? Despite taking the easy route, they still might not complete the trip. Apparently, the ice isn’t cooperating. What happened to the record melt?
This fearless mission is supposed to draw attention to the dangers of climate change. Well, I think it has done just that, but not in the way intended.
I don’t think they will make it.
WUWT had some fairly interesting comments when this rowboat of fools was first mentioned. inc the “licence taken” in describing it as across:-)
seeing as Barrow and other places there have ha some pretty nippy weather and ice issues..it really was a foregone conclusion this mob will end up needing rescuing at the expense and life risk of others.
they could? try and land.but then Polar bears may be a bit excited at the free lunch on offer:-)
It proves this rowing team more and likely let on they got through due to this made up global warming even in realty they never even started if it me I leave them there for the polar bears harden them
These warmists continue to ‘deny’ that they are their own worst enemy….
The crazy things people do in the name of religion…
Yep maybe in the future they should make those explorations to raise awareness on the upcoming ice age and global cooling.
Calling it anything else by now is pure stupidity and ignorance. You’d think everyone knows this by now.
I read that experts agree that the poles, and Greenland are melting at an alarming rate. Don’t worry boys, you will be ice free in a few days.
UPDATE: Went to Cryosphere Today, and it looks like the ice melt has a looong way to go. Good luck lads.
I was up at Prudhoe bay a couple weeks ago. Their usual summer barge fleet was also delayed by ice. The arctic is reverting back to normal after the warm cycle.
yeah definetly this dushbags were trying to show how warm it is there evrithing melting
wish they would have a few pollar bears floating on the ice pay them a visit haha:)
so they learn there lesson
Have you noticed that every time some group has tried to prove the Arctic is melting has wound up needing rescuing because of the ice that is not melting?
ROFL…”observe and highlight the pace and extent of climate change in the Arctic.”
How are they going to spin this one?
