Global WARMING? Only six days of summer in Stockholm this year
“Summer weather was miserable – now there’s proof,” says this article out of Sweden.
According to the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI), on only six days this summer did the temperature reach more than 25 degrees Celsius in Stockholm.
Last year, Stockholm had 28 days with summer weather, ie days with a minimum temperature of 25 degrees. This year, just six days met this definition – 4 days in July and two in August. Recent summers have not even come close to having as few summer days.
Gothenburg had only five summer days this year. Malmo had nine, about as few as last year.
There has also been an unusual amount of rain, says Lisa Frost, meteorologist at SMHI.
The month of June was the wettest ever recorded in Stockholm, where precipitation has been measured since 1786.
Between June 1 and August 19 Stockholm had 41 days of rain, meaning that it rained more than every other day.
Hinshult in eastern Smayland got 163 mm of rain on July 7, the fifth largest daily amount ever reported by an official Swedish station.
SMHI still maintains that this year’s summer was relatively normal, but keep in mind that weather authorities often smooth out temperature variations by including nighttime readings. Even with this smoothing, July’s average temperature in Stockholm stood at at 17.8 degrees, which is 2.9 degrees less than in July 2011.
I’m guessing that we won’t read about this in the mainstream media.

and Moscow had +5C a few days ago….
6 days above 25 degrees C ? In the last three months we probably haven’t had many more than that – oh wait – I forgot – its winter here.
That is miserable.
I thought when hurricane Irene went so far north – up past New York – that an increases in moisture in higher latitudes is not a good sign – high moisture in high latitudes equals increased snowfall ? Combined with declining solar activity these phenomena could be foretelling something ?
The next decade will be interesting.
I don’t think we’ll have to wait for the next decade before it gets interesting and I guess in a few years the southward migration will start slowly until as it start to become obvious then God Help us all. Anyone that has an inkling about what’s coming would be very foolhardy to support the current administration!
Swedish Martin Hedberg and his friend Pär Holmgren are two of the most shameless climate-charlatans in Sweden! Martin Hedberg is spewing his nonsense on Klart.se, the other on SMHI.se (his crappy summerblog). I think the comments to Martin Hedbergs blog (klart.se) is written by himself. They are losing it
! Hahaha!!!
I moved to Ohio from California a few months ago and have been told by several people here that the summers have been getting shorter and the winters longer. I have no way of judging, but, having been told how miserable the summers are, I was pleasantly surprised how mild it was. Now let’s see what the winter brings.
Stockholm needs to take a clue from the Pacific Northwest where “70 is the new 80″. Makes summer last a lot longer.
“70 is the new 80″
IPCC and Al Gore will love that!:-)
To add to the picture, the trees here in mid upper michigan are turning at least a month early with the early arrival of birds that also should be here later. Friends in southern wisconsin have also told me that the trees have a lot of seeds which they think could mean a cold winter
So much for global warming !!
That is exactly what globull warming causes you deniers!
I just couldn’t help saying this here.
Yeah, I can’t stop laughing about how WARMING now suddenly causes cooling!
Sorry, but you should go back and read the original claims made by the warmists. I remember, I followed the debate practically since day 1:
- Warming meant that the planet was getting HOT.
- they allowed for COOLING, but only if the Gulf stream changed its course, due to cooling through melting ice. Then Central Europe and England would cool a bit.
BUT this hasn’t happened. The Gulf Stream is just fine.
There was absolutely NO provision for Australia experiencing very cold summers, nor rainy summers. It was supposed to be HOT and DRY.
The Alps were supposed to become “Mediterranean” with no snow in winter, except at high altitudes, and very mild temperatures, hot in summer.
Reality – for the last 5 years at least – COLD winters, even FREEZING winters with lots of snow and pretty cool summers.
Right now we FINALLY have about 2 weeks of summer weather, but it is already turning colder.
The Global Warmist we must remember have one thing in common and that is…MONEY!!!!
Here in Belfast, in the northern part of Ireland, we have not had a single day this summer when the maximum temperature reached 25c (77f). It was the same last year and the year before.
wow! 25c is a warm day there?
thats early spring, just getting bearable enough to take a jumper or two off for me in aus:-)
meanwhile being a late finish to winter its cold
( down to 1.5C in the Daytime in Sth Aus yesterday)and raining heaps here, a few spring bulbs are out, but most flowers are waiting a bit.
The Snowy Mountains in Victoria/NSW seem to be having a very good snow season. And there is more to come.
Here in Brisbane we’ve had an early start to spring/summer, but perhaps it’s just a false alarm and we’ll be hit by another cold snap. They are predicting a hot dry summer for us in south-east Queensland, but perhaps it is an early start to a brief summer?
I am beginning to think the Global Warming Leadership knew all along that climate is cyclic and the current cooling was coming. However they expected the cool down to be much more gradual and they would get their program of carbon credits and restrictions on coal and oil usage fully in place much sooner. Then they would use the natural cooling as proof of the success of their program.
What caused the Summer in March pattern for most of the Continental US?
Please forgive me if I put anybody off but I am going thru rough times right now and have to sort myself out from left to right.
