“20-30 degrees colder than observed the past few days?” Were those days experiencing average temps for those dates? If they were, this is STUNNING news, and a VERY bad portent of things to come!
WHooo, guys. It is not at all unusual to have snow in June, July or August here. I am in West Yellowstone, 6600 ft, and this is the first time in 13 years we have NOT had snow in July. Let’s not overshoot our goals, or folks will not trust this site.
Thanks
HI Pam, you are right. High mountain weather can be completely different to that in the valleys.Even in Scotland, if you go walking in the Cairngorms or any of the highlands you have to make sure that you take suitable wet/cold weather gear with you. You may start of in the sunshine but it can change in minutes at the top. Your comments are what are needed to bring a proper perspective to this type of weather for those who do not experience it.

What kind of crops/plants grow in your area? It would be important to know the crops, for instance, that can put up with snow on any given month. I’m being honest, by the way, since I don’t know of anything other than evergreen trees that tolerate snow well and keep on growing.
ah..the heatwave continues i see:-)
@Pam: I have noticed these posts seem to highlight any weather news involving cold. It is up to locals like you to point out that any particular bit is not an unusual event. I suspect it’s because many check here daily for validation of their views on cooling and there must be new info on the site to satisfy them. On the whole, I think it is a good counter to all the other news sources that report only weather news involving heat. They don’t report only statistically significant events either.
Exactly! I figure that the mainstream media already inundates you with warm-weather news. I want to provide some much-needed balance. – Robert
OK, I see your point. Thanks
Since the MSM won’t tell us about cold events during summer months, and most of us don’t have the time to search for them every day, I really appreciate being able to come here and see the latest news about them.
