First time ever: Snow in all 9 provinces

It is probably the first time ever that snow has fallen in all nine of South Africa’s provinces on the same day, said Kenosi Machepa from the South Africa Weather Service

Machepa  was referring to the vast cold front that brought snow to Pretoria for the first time since the late 1960s, reported Beeld.

In the Western Cape, snow fell on mountains in the Boland as well as in towns like Richmond and Touws River while snow was lying thick on the Matroosberg in Ceres.

The snow measured up to 20cm deep in some areas In Johannesburg, while in Bethlehem it measured  up to 70cm deep and schools were closed due to the weather.

I think the warmists in South Africa can kiss their palmtrees goodbye, here comes the cooling of climate.

  2. Kenneth Lund says:

So much for the idiotic idea claimed by the warmists that this snowfall is “normal”
Sounds more like an approaching ice age.
This is NOT normal whatsoever !!

  3. Argiris Diamantis says:

May-be it’s good to remind you of the fact that most of South Africa is situated just beneath the tropics. Johannesburg location is 26,2 degrees South (and the Capricorn is at 23,5 degrees South). That goes for Australia too, almost half of this big country lies within the tropics. The warmists always say: So there was some snow, but it is winter. But they don’t mention that the snow was falling at the edge of the tropics. 20-70 cm of snow has fallen in places where the subtropics are almost reaching the tropics. That is no ordinary winter.

We are in a solar maximum but the Sun’s activity is low, spotless Sun is predicted; future winters in Europe and America will be extreme harsh.

” … for the first time since the late 1960s …”
This is the part that connect us with solar radiation and the part that IMO we should pay the greatest attention now.
I’ve just found some posts of David Archibald
    http://wattsupwiththat.com/2012/01/08/solar-cycle-24-length-and-its-consequences/
    and
    http://wattsupwiththat.com/2012/01/08/solar-cycle-24-length-and-its-consequences/
showing that the present cycle-24 is expected to have a length comparable to those of the Maunder minimum, which had an estimated first cycle of ~ 18 years followed by others of even longer duration.
If this happens, a new Maunder, I believe the beginning of the new Ice Age is unavoidable, because another period of strong solar radiation as we had in the XX century probably won’t happen for another 1000 years or more and we’re overdue for the beginning of a new glacial period.
This is a critical time, but we need to wait another few months/a year to see where the Sun will go.

I wonder what we and they will be saying when it snows again next year and again the year after that too ? After all Ice Age is Ice Age. This cooling trend is hardly likely to stop. Especially since we are now effected by Noctilucent Clouds, caused by interstellar space dust, blocking out solar energy.

  7. SteveSadlov says:

Could be a portent of the NH winter. Lots of people in the NH, especially in the US, are caught up in a heat wave meme due to an Omega Block impacting the Eastern 2/3 of the US. They have no idea how drastically things can change once the Block breaks down. It’s looking more and more like it will break down just as the first hint of Autumn is here. Could be quite a rude awakening, from fire to ice.

  8. TomO says:

Does anyone know if there has been any spectral change in the Sun’s output? It seems to me that reds seem richer during the day then they used to, and here in Arizona, I have been noticing lately that there is a hint of dark red near the horizon long after sunset has taken place. Just wondering if the sun is also cooling down as well.
