Before wealth can be spread around it must first be created
By Charles S. Opalek, P.E.
Energy is what made this country the greatest empire on Earth. Energy is what makes us strong. The USA possesses 82% of the world’s recoverable reserves of shale oil, and 25% of the coal. By 2020 we will be exporting crude oil and natural gas. Kiss OPEC goodbye!
Obama does not like American being ahead of the norm. His vision is to cut the legs out from underneath America in order to “level the playing field” with other countries. His vision is shared mediocrity.
It is child’s play getting the USA economy moving forward. All that need be done is to re-instate the oil/fuel depletion allowance, and rescind capital gains taxes. The US economy would explode overnight!
Before wealth can be spread around it must first be created.

Are You Prepared?

I recommend this DVD

Even if it was created, one cannot spread it around it just does not work that way!
So then, let’s not create it at all?
That’s what Ayn Rand says in “Atlas Shrugged.”
“Creating” wealth is a fallacy anyway. We confuse value, which is what is created, with money, which is a collection of tokens. Big piles of such tokens is how we conceive of wealth.
Economy is merely an extension of ecology, which itself is no more than how the energy of the sun moves through biological systems and then re-radiates into space as part of the planetary radiant energy budget. In short, thermodynamics governs economy as well.
The difference between a hunter-gatherer economy and an industrial one is deferment. A hunter-gatherer expends effort for a direct reward: food, useful material, etc. In an industrial economy, you exchange your effort for the results, at several removes sometimes, of someone else. The money is in effect a promise that equivalences of work are being expended throughout the chain within which the money circulates. Economic crashes and balloon bursts are a necessary result since some promises will ultimately not be kept, or were lies to begin with.
So, not only can wealth be spread around, it MUST be, if you want a functioning economy. The alternative is stagnation.
USA is not an Empire;it does not have colonies or more importantly an Emperor????
I dunno. Each successive president lately seems to act more and more like an Emperor.
The only President that has acted like an emperor in my lifetime is Obama.
yeah, as well as remove hundreds of EU based agenda 21 restrictions on small business and farms.
Mr Opalek, can I ask you a question.
Is it safe for me to buy a brand new 8 cyl. PISTON ENGINE gas guzzler, I intend to keep it running for the next 50 years? Sarcasm.
The fundamental concept, first you create it before you can share it, is correct. However, it is a joke to say the economy would respond virtually overnight to an expansion of energy. The economy cannot supply jobs merely because energy is available. You have to have the base industries that create the economy – metal working, concrete, the basic things that all industries are created from, or there is no place for the energy to be used. We threw away all those industries in our quest for “clean air.” And no, I am not saying we need smog ans pollution. I am saying government should have spent the trillions of dollars it has wasted in war making capacity to assist industries to find “clean” ways of creating the economy. Instead, we penalized it for failing, and sent it overseas where it was found to be acceptable.
The economy will not rebound simply because we have decided to make energy available. After all, once you gave up your car for a donkey, all the cheap gas in the world won’t help you get around. It takes wealth to create the industrial base that is needed to build an economy on, and that wealth has to be selfless and unselfish in order to rebuild the economy. Cheap energy won’t change the attitude of those that control the flow of money, and that change is what will make the economy grow. Cheap and abundant energy won’t.
“[W]ealth has to be selfless and unselfish . . . .”
“It is not from the benevolence of the butcher, the brewer, or the baker, that we expect our dinner, but from their regard to their own interest.” (Adam Smith) You might also want to read the Ayn Rand collection of essays, “The Virtues of Selfishness.”
There is a difference between getting benefit from what you produce and stealing. And regardless of what Ayn Rand thought, there really IS no virtue in “selfishness.” In every case of wealth acquisition that is truly “selfish,” there is no benefit to anyone – not even to the selfish. If the butcher sold his wares at ridiculous prices, he only gets wealthy on the ignorance of those that think selfishness is virtuous. The desire for and drive for wealth, is not the same as selfishness.
“Agriculture is the foundation of industry and commerce.”
OK you guys over there – I will give you the Empire
LOL The only one we should be worried about though is the “Green” Empire and those “earning” from it
