Volcanoes just keep on erupting.

On Tuesday afternoon, one of Indonesia’s most active volcanoes, Mount Soputan, shot ash and smoke nearly one mile (1½ km) into the sky.

There is no plan for evacuations, says state volcanology official Kristianto, because the nearest villages are outside the danger area of about 4 miles (6.5 km) from the crater.

Mount Soputan last erupted in July last year, causing no casualties.

Another mountain, Gamalama, erupted last week on the Molucca Islands.

Number 65 this year, but who’s counting?

Many volcanoes erupting but what about the intensities? Their VEI’s or the sum of the intensities of all eruptions is the most important aspect to trigger a greater response of the climate worldwide.
I believe we’ve not have a single VEI 4+ in 2012. Last year we had at least one, at Grimsvotn, Icelande, in May/21.
In comparison with 2010 and 2011, we have had lower seismic activity too.

THE CUMLATIVE EFFECT OF ALL THESE VOLCANOS ERUPTING HAS TO HAVE AN EFFECT ON THE UPCOMING WINTER IN THE US. DOWN HERE IN NEW ORLEANS WE HAVE HAD THREE COOL FRONTS COME THROUGH IN THE LAST THREE WEEKS, ONE WAS IN AUGUST. THIS USUALLY DOESN’T HAPPEN UNTIL THE END OF SEPTEMBER. THE BEGINNING OF A ROUGH WINTER THAT IS COMING ? STAY TUNED GLOBAL WARMEST, ROBERT’S PREDICTIONS ARE STARTING TO HAPPEN…

having been noting the large volumes of 5 and over quakes right across the top of Aus lately, as well as NG and across to the islands I am frankly amazed that so few volcanos are acting up.
phillipines indonesia and right over to Indian ocean have been very active.
