Perisher in Australia extends ski season
“Deep snowpack enables Perisher to extend its ski season,” says reader Joshua Cooley. “Global warming” aka “climate change” aka “climate disruption” STILL not shutting down ski areas as climate alarmists claimed would be happening by now. When they fed garbage into their computer models, out came garbage.”
According to their website, Perisher Valley (NSW) “was the first Australian ski resort to open this year on June 2nd, and now Perisher has announced that it will be extending its season until October 5th.
“Thanks to consistent snowfalls that we have received since the start of winter, particularly in August, Perisher is experiencing some of the best skiing and snowboarding conditions that we’ve ever seen; you’d have to go back a long way to find so many epic powder days in one season,” said Peter Brulisauer, Perisher’s CEO. “With these fantastic conditions we are pleased to announce that we will be extending our snow season to the end of the NSW School Holidays on 5 October.”
“Accumulated natural snowfalls have exceeded four meters at Perisher since the start of winter, laying the foundation for an extended spring ski season.”

Are You Prepared?

I recommend this DVD

I sit here chuckling remembering an article from a couple of years back. Some professional skiers (what is that exactly) were testifying before congress on the affects of global warming and how it was going to adversely effect their ability to make a living. Seems like every year ski resorts are able to extend their seasons. Tahoe had skiing in July last year. Seems like those pro skiers will have a future after all.
The interesting thing I am noticing at present is that my partner and I are feeling significantly cooler than the temperature would indicate. And we both have noticed the sun doesn’t feel as warm as it should here in early september @ 27 degrees S on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast.
Maybe I’m just getting old but I don’t recall feeling this lack of warmth in recent years when it was actually quite hot – Mid August 2009 saw major dust storms out west and 31+ C temperatures here.
There has been significant cooling and increased rainfall since August 2009 including the 2011 floods and the surprising result that despite no major flooding 2012 recorded the highest Jan – June rainfall since 1974 – another major flood year.
I think something is changing and I do not think it will be unending increases in heat. I have 58 years of observations and used to be an AGW (not CAGW) believer until I saw how weak their actual science is – well it is nothing more than a hypothesis really !
and we have the usual morons saying we wont have any snow by 2020..well when we do have..I sure hope theyre around to apologise for idiotic garbage they keep touting with NO PROOF. just theories and models.
Amen !! I’m sick of their stupid garbage !!! They will regret it this November too when we vote conservative !!!!!
When the glaciers melt on Mount Rainier, then we can begin to take GW seriously.
Well I live in Ohio and we are experiencing a very hot summer. The degree has gotten well over 100 many times. This is very unusual. I do not remember that many hot days. It has gotten in the 80s but never 90 and 100 all the time like this. I tho it was because of china moving closer to us.. LOL.. never know.
We are experiencing a hot summer this year, and or previous winter was very mild. I do not remember this at all in Ohio. It is very different. I tho the warm weather was because of China moving closer to the US but it could have something to do with the glaciers.
Well it was NOT a hot summer in SC. It was cooler than normal here in many parts of the SE states. Here in June in CHAS we averaged
-2.9 F below means, July +1.6 F, August was -.6 F. So if you do the math we averaged -.63 BELOW normal for the summer. Nothing like last summer.
Even Dallas,TX was not nearly as hot as last summer. Last July 2011 they had 30 days in the 100′s – this July only 11. In August last year Dallas had 28 days in the 100′s. This August only 12 such days. I don’t know where the hype is coming from this summer about “the worst ever.” They are obviously lying to everybody, as usual. June this year was cool in many parts of the East and August was below normal in many areas also. There were many record lows in August reported. Where’s the news on all that ???????
