Best season in the Snowy Mountains for a long time
“The ski bunnies, the electro-engineers and the resort operators all agree on one thing: 2012 is the best season in the Snowy Mountains for a long time,” says this article out of Australia.
“Some say the quality and consistency of the snow is as good as it was in the famous 2000 season. Others mutter about 1990. Thredbo resort is so excited it has extended its season until next month.”
The article then veers off to a prediction that “compared with 1990 levels, there will be 60 per cent less snow on the slopes by 2020,” and blames it on “climate change.”
I sometimes wonder if journalists actually think about what they write.

I recommend this DVD

10 years ago our chief climate scientist predicted Australian dams would never be full again and snowfields would see deminishing snow to the extend in a decade or so we will see no more snow. All dams are now full or near capacity and weekend snow reports on Major tv stations have been showing a bumper season with 40cm {1 foot} of snow falling in the last week. This story of no snow comes out as a counter to the factual news reports to try to give our scientists some credibility.
An article that was published In the Australian newspaper on Wednesday 5th September suggested that the Snowy Mountains would have no snow in winter by 2020. This article was written from the research of a botanist! The next day the newspaper published a letter that queried the qualifications of a botanist to make predictions about future snow cover. There has been no reply.
Most of the Australian ski resorts are at around 6000 feet or just under. In a warming world snow here would be at best marginal and then it would finally disappear. Clearly this is not happening. Current snow depths in the Snowy Mountains are around 2 metres!
Treble Cone, NZ has a received a meter of new snow since last Monday on a 2.16-meter base http://www.treblecone.com/
Did last three seasons in the Snowy Mts. Best season yet (not as good as Steamboat Springs) but fantastic by local standards. Family had a blast.
When I arrived we 3 years ago we lived under water restrictions and it was all doom and gloom predictions. I knew it would be turning around and told everyone I met that the PDO was changing and that the water would return and that I would see water in Lake George before I left (and I have).
csiro and the rest thanks to flim flannery and the fool in qld raving about the reef and the rest..
have lost our once respected science folks most of their cred.
the media arent paid to think.!
but to write what the govy agenda says they should.
same as our supposedly nonbiased balance aus gov owned and taxpayer funed ABC radio tv netowrk
sadly its so biased its beyond humour.
the sooner its shut down and shuts up the better for the IQ level of aussies.
