Volatile Mount Lokon erupts in northern Indonesia
Residents put on alert.
Government volcanologist Hendrasto says Mount Lokon on Sulawesi island unleashed two strong eruptions Friday, spewing hot smoke and ash thousands of feet into the air.
Residents have been put on alert, but no evacuations are planned since the nearest villages are beyond the danger area about 2.5 kilometres (1.5 miles) from the crater.
Mount Lokon’s last major eruption in 1991 killed a Swiss hiker and forced thousands to flee. The volcano is one of five on high alert in Indonesia.

Are You Prepared?

I recommend this DVD

been a LOT of reasonable sized quakes over that way..and newsunspots may be active as they come round.
biggest surprise is more havent gone off.
I always thought that vulcanologist spent most of their time modeling and working on the physics of eruptions, monitoring perhaps, teaching, only occasionally venturing out into the field for first hand observation. Events being a rather rare thing and all. Seems like with the number of volcanoes becoming more active there is plenty of field work to go around
We have had plenty of sunspots this year. They just haven’t had many flairs of any size because the guass rate of the magnetic field in the sun has gotten so weak. The guass rate has been said once it goes down to 1500 the sun will have spots but they won’t do anything is almost here. We are currently at 1650 guass rate and dropping 50 a year!
DO THE MATH…We are in for it unless something turns around quickly!
