And the Headlines will read: Global Warming/Climate Change causes storm in Britain.
wonder if the new super duper puter worked this one out?
nah.
preprogrammed to fail.
like Had Cru want.
This storm has doubled back instead of moving away to the east—it is hitting much of the UK again including London tonight. It isn’t over yet.
Maybe more to come at the end of the month?

the wcmwf said the cold and rainning summer in UK is due to artic melting.
I read that a town in Scotland has several feet of sea foam covering it from the same storm.
Good Lord. You guys had a tough summer too.
Equinoctal gales in Britain are not infrequent and indeed their dependability proved instrumental in Scotland regaining the Hebrides from the Norsemen after the Norse fleet was destroyed by a storm in September 1263 AD. This recent storm however was especially severe and it was correctly predicted by Piers Corbyn well in advance. In 1263 it was nothing do with CO2 and in 2012 it also had nothing to with CO2.
I had the wettest ride to work ever, on my motorbike. It was aquaplaning even at 40mph. great fun! After the 33 miles it became a bit depressing though.
Ah, but for a little rain here … but not nearly as much as they are getting in England. Central Valley, California. No rain but a trace since June. That’s normal. But 100 degrees (Fahrenheit) this weekend and into next week. Not unheard of, just tired of the heat. This winter around the world should be an interesting one.
Severe weather around the time of the autumn equinox is not unusual in Great Britain and Ireland. Often it is the result of warm, moist air from a declining former hurricane or tropical storm mixing with cooler air from more northern latitudes. People of a certain age will remember the former Hurricane ‘Debbie’ in 1961 which pulverised much of Ireland and the UK. Wind gusts of 116 mph were recorded in Donegal.
I live just outside of Selby in North Yorkshire… surprisingly, Selby itself appears to escaped flooding from the River Ouse… other places upstream hit hard in what I’m told is the worst flooding since 2000 and the highest river levels in York since the 80′s… with the floods of 2000 the only one to beat it. (Some 40cm higher)
For the roads that are not flooded, it is quite the site seeing vast areas of water covering what i supposedly farm land.

Didn’t the ridiculous Met Office announce early this summer, “We are in drought”?
We were indeed in a severe drought, which was ended by the heaviest rainfall in a UK spring ever.
Groundwater levels were at historic lows, which recovered well due to the drenchings.
What they were stupid to say was that the drought would continue…..
