I’m at Lake Wenatchee in the central Cascades and woke up to snow on the mountain across the lake; the snow level dropped to about 2,500 last night.
Love the Lake Wenatchee area. Had a great aunt that owned a cabin up there. Have spent many an hour as a youth picking mushrooms and tracking deer in that part of the state.
The mushrooms are going crazy right now. I was hiking on one of my favorite trails today and saw at least 10 species. We have a family cabin that was built in 1929 right on the lake. There is a winter storm watch for the Cascades Mon. night through Wed. so we’ll see if the mushrooms get covered.
Shaggy manes, chantrells and matsutakis. Best in the country.
Snow on Snoqualime, 3022 ft, however at Easton Hill on I-90 at about 2500 ft there is snow also. White Pass looks like it had a blizzard, boy do I miss my snow plowing days but alas must let others have some fun also.
Skiing before Thanksgiving? Before Halloween? The resorts at Snoqualmie are somewhere between 2 and 3 thousand feet.
Sep-Oct- are the summer month in the PNW.
It looks like subzero temperatures and frost is happening on Mount Washington. In theory it could snow there right now if there is enough moisture in the air.
