Record low blown away by a huge margin, but NOAA calls it “record-breaking chill.”

“This past weekend saw overnight low temperatures shattered in my home region in NW Iowa,” says reader Mr Tall. “The NWS office in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, is usually quite good, but I did note the same pattern of linguistic undermining in their report of these cold temperatures, which included Spencer Iowa breaking its record low for October 7 by 6 degrees (from 19 to 13), and Sioux City Iowa breaking its record by 8 degrees (from 23 to 15).”

“Note the title of the NOAA report is ‘Record breaking chill across the area Sunday morning’.

“Although usually the default term for record cold these days is ‘cold snap’, now the word ‘cold’ itself is eschewed, with just a ‘chill’ representing a record low being blown away by a huge margin.

“The article goes on to attribute the cold to calm winds, few clouds, and recent dry weather which has depressed relative humidity levels. Fair enough; these factors can all contribute, but again the underlying message being put out is that there’s nothing here to really pay much attention to.

“Just imagine the press release, on the other hand, if the record high for October 7 had been broken by 8 degrees!

Did you expect from civil servants to go against the governmental doctrine of global warming. Luckily Obama is not such a beast as Joseph Stalin proved te be , but he appears te be capable to discipline the masses with only arm-twisting .
Anyway and this goes formost americans whose bread you eat whose word you speak .

Never trust NOAA because the director is a former professor from Oregon State University. OSU is a den Global warming weenies. So the NOAA will lie to us all the time about whats going on. NOAA said this past spring was the hottest on record. But did they explain why the Apple crop and Cherry crop were wiped out in Michigan this past spring because of sub freezing sub fresszing temp.. NOAA is Comrade Obama’s lackeys.

  3. Please remember, though, that we are reading about an exacerbation of a known climatic event. The fact that HM the President and his friends refuse to see it, must be ignored. Remember, it is not the incident but the provable developing trend that is important.

  4. Kenneth Lund says:

I sure do NOT trust NOAA or NASA at all. One must look at the record cold and record snow reports and make up their own mind. Forget about the conclusions from NOAA or NASA in regards to that. Anything that’s government is agenda driven. That’s been going on for at least 20 years now.

  5. C. Peter Davis says:

They can downplay and rename all they want but soon, very soon, the reality of global Cooling will be undeniable.
