A Met Office spokesman said the snow began falling much earlier than last year, when snowflakes were not reported until December.
Charlie Powell, a spokesman for the Met Office said: ‘Some parts of the country are as cold as Moscow today (Oct 27). Those in Northumberland are experiencing temperatures between 3 and 4C.
‘Overnight temperatures could drop to as low as -2 with a frosty start to the day tomorrow for many.
‘In the north east there could be 2cm of snow today and parts of northern Scotland could see up to 5cm of snow throughout the next 24 hours.

The terrible thing about a new little ice age is not that history will repeat itself. Man kind will survive for the most part. The real danger is if we actually go into a big ice age thinking that it is a little one.
Yes, specially caused by “institutions” like IPCC and NOAA, and others, that are trying their best to spread lies about the climate.
If it starts quickly there could be no time to react properly and the effects would be much more devastating…

If this is global warming, I sure wonder what global cooling will look like.
Without initially seeming to downplay the situation, only four years ago it was three weeks earlier in UK than this year… I remember the exact date: Fri 3rd October 2008 I stepped off the train at Pitlochry station and it was snowing!
However, here is the real issue: pockets of warm or cold is just weather – almost a minor random thing. This now is seriously worrying as it is over huge swathes of the northern hemisphere.
My suggestion is basically as Robert would recommend; stock up on some basic non-perishable items, just in case. Stuff like candles and tinned food. Even if the winter isn’t as bad, then at least there is some handy food about. Try maintain a stock level though and replace older ones with newer to rotate stock.

Yes and I agree with Steven that for all we know, we could be moving into a bigger ice age, a cycle we have not seen yet!

Sorry guys – no food stocks, no fuel stocks, no candles, no emergency warm shelter stocks, no warm clothing stocks, no Ice Age transport capability – boy are you guys F****d!” Interestingly, David Cameron’s father-in-law makes $584,000 a year from the wind farms on his land – for doing NOTHING! And Tim Yeo – who chairs the Commons Energy and Climate Change Committee – earns $224,000 a year from renewable energy firms. Lord Deben (formerly John Selwyn Gummer) is chair of the Government Climate Change Committee (CCC) – he is also chairman of Forewind (who want to build thousands of wind turbines in the North Sea) and Sancroft, (a lobbying and consultancy firm – one of its specialties is advising businesses on how to make money from policies enacted to combat global warming). Guimaraes says: “I really don’t understand these people, they probably think they’re gods.” Much simpler than that – they are corrupt. Global warming provides an opportunity for them to feel self-righteous, increase taxes and control (all 3 appeal to their sad little egos), and to profiteer (appeals to their greed) through abuse of power (corruption). But they are in public view – we should hold them up to public scrutiny and the vilification they deserve. Most people don’t understand climate science – but they are all too familiar with corruption! And in these hard times I think they may just have had enough. This could be the Achilles heel of the global warming scam. I am emailing my MP, other politicians and the media demanding ACTION. If everybody did this in all affected countries, things would change.

I was watching CNBC’s Squak Box this morning. They had an interview with Tom Stever, the head of Farallon Capital. He’s now retiring to do various good works among which is working on clean energy. He is fully convinced of AGW. He said that of the scientist that could be considered “climate scientist,” 97% agree that there is human-caused global warming and that the other 3% aren’t sure. This is not a stupid man. He was the head of a multi-billion dollar business. But where is he getting his information from? Does he not check both sides of the issue? Amazing!
Also, I just heard from a friend in Poland. He says they have snow there and cold temps. He also says that it costs about $1200, U.S., per month to heat his apartment. Yikes! Does anyone in the U.S. have that kind of monthly heating bill?
Another nail in the wall… here we go again… does a sledge hammer need to hit you in the head before we start to realize something bad is about to happen… we knoew it when we elected President Obama the first time. We know it now. This winter or one of the next three will be the turning point if we go into a little ice age or if we just have a small 60 year ice age. Hold on to you’re hats! I hope to god a killer volcano doesn’t turn us into blocks of ice. That is the unknown factor, we have to really worry about. The way the sun is going being so weak destabilizing the earth’s magnetic feild and making ti weaker it is very possible.
