Record snowfall in Missoula
More than doubles previous record.
The National Weather Service reports that Friday’s snowfall of 7.7 inches recorded at Missoula, Montana, International Airport shattered the old record of 3.5 inches set in 1971.
Heavy snow fell all across Western Montana, including in Flathead County.
The National Weather Service reports nearly two feet of snow has fallen in the last 24 hours near Essex. That has U.S. Highway 2 down to one lane one mile north of Essex.
Around 10 inches of snow was reported near Libby, about eight inches near Creston, and five inches near Condon and Heron.
