NORTHERN OREGON CASCADES-SOUTH WASHINGTON CASCADES-INCLUDING THE CITIES OF…GOVERNMENT CAMP…MOUNT ST. HELENS

…WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM PST THIS EVENING FOR THE SOUTH WASHINGTON AND NORTH OREGON CASCADES…

* TIMING…HEAVY SNOW WILL CONTINUE THIS MORNING…GRADUALLY EASING THIS AFTERNOON. ANOTHER SYSTEM WILL BRING MORE SNOW AND GUSTY WINDS LATER TONIGHT INTO WEDNESDAY MORNING.

* SNOW ACCUMULATION…AN ADDITIONAL 6 TO 12 INCHES OF SNOW WILL FALL TODAY. OVERALL STORM TOTAL ACCUMULATIONS OF 2 TO 5 FEET ARE LIKELY BY WEDNESDAY… ESPECIALLY ON HIGHER RIDGES AROUND MOUNT ST HELENS AND MOUNT HOOD.

* WIND…WEST WINDS 20 TO 30 MPH WITH HIGHER ELEVATION GUSTS UP TO 50 MPH THIS MORNING. THESE WINDS WILL CAUSE CONSIDERABLE BLOWING AND DRIFTING OF SNOW.

* IMPACTS…THE COMBINATION OF HEAVY SNOW AND STRONG WIND WILL CONTINUE TO MAKE DRIVING OVER THE CASCADES EXTREMELY HAZARDOUS TODAY. BLIZZARD AND WHITE OUT CONDITIONS WILL CONTINUE FOR THE PASSES THIS MORNING.
