Scotland and northern England are expecting up to 20cm (eight inches) of snow from today into Wednesday morning, with temperatures dropping as low as minus 15C (5F) overnight.
The central band of Scotland could be hard hit into Tuesday.
Heavy snow has already begun to affect road and air travel as the Met Office issues yellow “be aware” warnings.
A number of trains have been delayed or cancelled in Hampshire, Surrey and Kent, while passengers were left waiting for trains between Rugby, Northampton and London.
Meanwhile, flights in and out of Leeds-Bradford Airport were halted on Monday morning.
The A66 across the Pennines between Bowes, County Durham, and Stainmore, Cumbria, was also closed because of heavy snow.

- 15C is highly unlikely anywhere in northern Britain tonight. The Met Office are forecasting 0C in many of the Scottish cities with somewhat lower temperatures in the ski resorts and highland glens. However, more snow is certain and it may extend to eastern parts of Northern Ireland which had snow lying on St Patrick’s Day down to the 400 foot contour. I haven’t seen so much snow on the Belfast Hills on St Patrick’s Day since 1964.
To me this is getting scary. OK its not an ice age, yet.
Ten years ago the cherry trees were full of blossom in January. Now all they bear is snow.
In just a few years children wont know what cherries look like.
This news is not in the Dutch newspapers, not on Dutch television. The same goes for heavy snowfall in Slovakia. In order to keep the global warming lie alive, crucial information is not supplied by the MSM.

Yes, I have the same concern. I am watching this map from SMHI, that shows the cover of ice in the Baltic Sea and Bottenviken. It is still growing due to this cold weather pattern in northern Europe. BTW, southern part of Sweden, Skaane, experienced severe blizzards today. Several schools had to close.

I wonder if some of our swedish readers could tell us when the avarage culmination of the ice sheet of the Baltic Sea and Bottenviken occur in this period of the year.
So far this year the Jet Stream over the British Isles seems to have taken a much more southerly track than is normal. Instead of getting seasonal maximum temperatures of 9C-10C, many places in the east are struggling to reach 2C-4C. There seems to be no end to this cold and dreary winter.
