Snowfall of 8 to 12 inches was forecast for parts of Massachusetts and Rhode Island by Friday morning, with 6 to 10 inches in Boston and nearby areas.

“We are watching a conveyor belt of wave after wave of snow coming in over the Atlantic,” said Alan Dunham, meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Taunton, Mass. “The morning commute will definitely be a challenge,” he said, especially for those headed into Boston from the south.

In Connecticut, up to 6 inches of snow was expected by Friday.

The late-winter storm buried parts of the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic before sweeping into New England. It dumped up to 20 inches of snow on central and western Virginia, 2 feet of snow in parts of West Virginia, and left more than 200,000 customers without power.

I measured 10.25 inches an hour ago, its probably 11 inches now. Boston must have gotten something close to 20 inches, they’re near the bulls eye of this storm.

Looks like totals are now in the 15-24 inch range !

Here in my part of western CT, we got an easy 8 inches, and we’re down in a valley. Towns in the hills got over a foot. A friend who lives in Norwood, a suburb to the southwest of Boston reports he had 18 inches this morning, and its still snowing there according to the radar.

    • rob says:

I’m in the valley too. Unbelievable how some places just 15 minutes to the northeast from me got almost double the amount. Click on Kens link and check out the totals for all of New England. One place in Mass got 29.8 inches. In March!!!

  4. Kyle says:

I wonder if a lot of towns are without power right now?

Who’s without power!? Raise you’re hand!
