A winter storm swept over Washington, D.C. today, forcing federal offices to close and threatening to dump 4 to 8 inches of snow — the heaviest in Washington in two years.
“It will be a wet, heavy, gloppy snow consistent with wallpaper paste,” National Weather Service spokesman Chris Vaccaro said.
More than 1,100 flights were canceled at Reagan National airport and Washington Dulles, and power outages were expected in some parts of Virginia.
Meanwhile, in the Chicago suburbs, part of the roof of a banquet hall caved in, and snow poured into one wing of the building.

What is ironic is that in Washington DC the House Science Committee hearing on “climate change” aka global warming was CANCELED DUE TO SNOW.

This time of year, early March, is already the Meteorological Spring. What is causing this cold? Looking at the sun, we see that it is spotless, in a time Solar Cycle 24 should almost be at its Maximum.

this storm screwed DC and Baltimore out of the snow but west and south of Dc and Baltimore got hit hard buy heavy snow.The cold source was Marginal in the big citys and with a East to southeast wind that expanded the Marine Layer warmed things up aloft and pushed the rain/snow line further west then mets were expecting.Also the light precipitation and the lack of banding caused mosty rain and or mix and not the heavy snows that could have happen if the banding would have varied in that reagion.

As I understand it, the snow storm that shut down Washington didn’t fully manifest itself and there was a lot of rain mixed with it. That is, there really was not reason to shut donw Washington, yesterday.
The bust was it really a temp issue as it was the bannding issue.The storm stack off down in Va so the Dynamics that brought the bannding with Heavy snow stayed in Va and south and west of Dc.also the location when the storm started to go bomb-O-genesis was a bit inland on Va which gave a east wind in Dc and Baltimore which pushed that line a bit more west then anyone forecasted.this why the forecasts was off.Also some of the Model sets did it handel this storm very well which added to the forecasting headacks.
Only problem is there was no snowstorm in DC proper
