“High Impact,” “Significant snow event,” “Nuisance,” “Major Early Storm,” are some of the words used by the NWS to describe the upcoming event.
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE RIVERTON WY
315 AM MDT MON SEP 30 2013
ANOTHER MAJOR EARLY SEASON STORM SYSTEM IS STILL ON TRACK EVEN THOUGH THE MODELS CONTINUE TO CHANGE A LITTLE… THE HEMISPHERIC PATTERN STILL SUPPORTS A DIGGING TROUGH INTO THE NRN GREAT BASIN/WYO COUNTRY…
EVEN THE NAM IS LOOKING PRETTY IMPRESSIVE AT 84 HOURS. THE ECMWF AND GEM ARE BRINGING THE UPPER LOW RIGHT THROUGH CNTRL WYOMING BUT AT THE SAME TIME THEY ARE SLOWING THE SYSTEM DOWN RIGHT ON TOP OF US AND DROPPING IT SE AS IT TRACKS ACROSS THE AREA. THE GFS/NAM AND GFS ENSEMBLES ARE ARE CLOSING OFF THE LOW TO OUR WEST. THE GFS THEN TRACK IS ACROSS NRN COLORADO AND SRN WYOMING THURSDAY NIGHT. ENOUGH CONFIDENCE TONIGHT TO HIGH OUR FAVORED CENTRAL ZONES WITH LIKELY TO CATEGORICAL POPS FOR THURSDAY AND THURSDAY NIGHT WITH RAIN CHANGING TO SNOW ACROSS THE LOWER ELEVATIONS.
LOOKS LIKE ANOTHER WET AND COLD STORM SYSTEM WITH PLENTY OF COLD AIR FOR A RAIN CHANGING TO SNOW SCENARIO AND POSSIBLY ANOTHER SIGNIFICANT SNOW EVENT IN OUR FAVORED CENTRAL UPSLOPE AREAS.
CONFIDENCE IS GROWING…THAT THIS WILL BE ANOTHER HIGH IMPACT EVENT.

“So after they get hit with the 2nd largest September snowstorm last week…here comes another,” says Ralph.
