The game is up for climate change believers. Author Rupert Darwall exposes the hubris.

“Rupert Darwall is not a scientist,” says reviewer Charles Moore. “He is a wonderfully lucid historian of intellectual and political movements, which is just the job to explain what has been inflicted on us over the past 30 years or so in the name of saving the planet.”

By Rupert Darwall

“There are a large number of characters in this story who make the usually tacit assumption that the atmosphere and the oceans can be controlled by human activity. Anyone who has spent a night on a large, stormy and dark lake, in a small boat, might hold a different point of view.”

“I thought this book was going to be boring but boy, was I wrong. The author’s style is clear and easy to read.” – Mr. Thadeu Freitas (WA, Australia)

This is the best book I ever read on this subject. No endless climate data tables, no avalanche of graphs, just clear logic, excellent historical developments and easy to read writing style. – F Massem

“It is charlatanry”

Excerpts from review by Charles Moore – 6 April 2014

“Some of the utterances of the warmists are preposterously specific. In March 2009, the Prince of Wales declared that the world had “only 100 months to avert irretrievable climate and ecosystem collapse”. How could he possibly calculate such a thing? …  It is charlatanry.

The origins of warmism lie in a cocktail of ideas which includes anti-industrial nature worship, post-colonial guilt, a post-Enlightenment belief in scientists as a new priesthood of the truth, a hatred of population growth, a revulsion against the widespread increase in wealth and a belief in world government.

It is amazing to see the lengths to which the principals of this debacle will go to in order to try and generate economic activity out of ether. All the while their actions lay waste to economic efficiencies which if otherwise left alone without the encumbrances of punitive taxation and outright legislative shutdown would drive the capitalist model and prosperity for all. Surely, if Adam Smith is looking upon us, he is not resting peacefully….

  2. Steevo says:

The cliff note version: green energy and subsidies vs. cheap conventional energy.

  3. Realist says:

Is this supposed to be an “article”, or is it (as it seems) just an advertisement for a book masquerading as an article?

Don’t misunderstand, I have read the book and found it a very good analysis of the whole AGW libcult effort aimed at gaining complete control over every government and every (personal) decision of every person in the world, but couldn’t the author just pay for a real ad?

    Just wondering.

    • Robert says:

Yes, it is an ad. From now on when I run such an ad, I’ll make it clear right up front.

  4. Steven says:

There will be no global warming for a while.

It seems there is a little more to the story put forth by Jeffery Saute.

I spent several nights and days on a warship steaming through the Atlantic Ocean with the ship getting beat up by massive waves when I was in the Navy… on numerous occasions… there’s no way we could control all that with the technology that we have! :o
