Blizzards in Moldavia – Entire villages snowbound

Snow exceeds 1 meter high (more than 3 ft) in some places.

18 Jan 2016 – Snow has seized southern Moldova.

The storm swept Cantemir, Taraclia, Stefan Voda and Cahul, where dozens of villages (at least 50) are still isolated.

Several roads were affected by the blizzard, and there are “big issues” on the roads of Ukraine.

More than 1,000 bus connections have been suspended in the last 24 hours.

Trains to Ukraine and Romania remain in Chisinau.

Snow cover will be 30 cm (12 inches), and more in some areas. Tomorrow the weather will cool sharply, dropping to to minus 20 degrees.–drumuri-blocate-si-sate-intregi-sub-nameti-in-sudul-tarii_69649.html
