  1. Reminds me of his positions here that he laid out in a late 2007 Democrat Primary debate on CNN in Las Vegas (condensed version – context is intact I left out his remarks blaming Bush first):

    – Now, I have already stated that, as president, I will make sure that we finally have the kind of border security that we need. That’s step number one.

    – Step No .2 is to take on employers. . . They have to be held accountable.

    – I believe that we can take the undocumented workers, the illegal aliens who are here, get them out of the shadows, make sure that they are subject to a stiff penalty, make sure that they’re learning English

    – make sure that they go to the back of the line so they’re not getting an advantage over people who came here legally

    – and we can once again be a nation of laws and a nation of immigrants. That’s what I intend to do as president of the United States. (Cheers, applause.)

  2. It may be news to many people on this site but Barack Obama is known to many Mexicans as “The Deporter in Chief.” Yes, during his presidency, more than 2 million illegals were deported, an all-time record. So, he did live up to this 2005 speech. Of course, many people choose to believe the nonsense they hear from politicians on both the fake Left and fake right who hang out together after public hours and have a good laugh at the credulous and abused populace. To quote Bismarck, “The only time you believe anything the government says is when they officially deny something.”

    • No Craig – That’s not really what happened. Obama inherited the rising volume of deportations – under Bush; then put an immediate end to the rising trend. At best – it simply leveled off as soon as Obama’s policies began to be implemented:

      Deportations Reported by ICE
      2005 – 180K
      2006 – 208K
      2007 – 291K
      2008 – 369K
      2009 – 390K
      2010 – 393K
      2011 – 397K
      2012 – 409K
      2013 – 369K
      2014 – 316K
      2015 – 235K
      2016 – 240K

      The relative percentage increases/decreases:
      2005 to 2006: 15.6%
      2006 to 2007: 39.9%
      2007 to 2008: 26.8%
      2008 to 2009: 5.7%
      2009 to 2010: 0.8%
      2010 to 2011: 1%
      2011 to 2012: 3%
      2012 to 2013: -10%
      2013 to 2014: – 14%
      2014 to 2015: -26%
      2015 to 2016: 2%

Our national media – as much as they despised the big numbers – would still use them to defend Obama. They’d use anything to defend Obama.

    • Under previous Administrations those that were caught crossing the Border Illegally and immediately turned back to Mexico were not considered as “being deported”. Under the Obama Administration those people were considered and counted as deported.

  3. My, how time changes people! Was it He who told illegals that they could vote in our elections? By the way, why on earth would the Russians want Trump when Hillary oversaw the sale of so much our uranium assets to Putin?

    • By the way, why hasn’t her assistance in that been investigated, and did her foundation benefit financially? What’s fair is fair. If they’re going to investigate Pres. Trump, why not investigate her more thoroughly ?

  4. “Our borders have overflowed with illegal immigrants placing tremendous burdens on our criminal justice system, schools and social programs. The Immigration and Naturalization Service needs the ability to step up enforcement. “Our federal wallet is stretched to the limit by illegal aliens getting welfare, food stamps, medical care and other benefits often without paying any taxes. “Safeguards like welfare and free medical care are in place to boost Americans in need of short-term assistance. These programs were not meant to entice freeloaders and scam artists from around the world.”
    ~ Harry Reid. 1993 elections.

    • The last time I looked politics is an evolving and devolving science. We discuss many scientific views from almost all categories of the definition.
Political science has a tendency to set standards of physical science within the realm of political control, this have never reaped good results looking back from historical evidence.
Thusly, it becomes self evident, for a nation to, at times wisely one could state, remind the people the not so wise physical and political decisions politicians get caught up in.

    • Unfortunately post normal science has hopelessly entwined politics and science. To stop the CAGW scam the statists must be stopped. Destroying national sovereign nations to effectively subject them to one world socialism is a common goal enabled by both CAGW and innane immigration policy. They are not orthogonal issues.

    • If “global warming” was about science I might agree with you… however, it is all about politics. Including unfortunately some scientists who have tossed aside their training in how to do science in favor of grant-getting political arguments.

If an Ice Age does happen (or rather, not if but when…) there will be ample need to discuss national sovereignty and immigration, because people who live where the cold and ice gets impossible to live with will need to move… and most likely across borders. Contingency plans for how to deal with that would make a lot more sense to be discussing instead of the G-whatever talks about supposed global warming/aka global climate change/aka… global redistribution of wealth… that always favors the politicians buddies.

Besides… this is Robert’s blog… he can put anything on it he wants to as long as it’s not illegal. Oh wait, there have been some politicians in the past few years who’ve suggested death penalties for people who disagree with AGW!

    • If you think the warm-monger isn’t politics, you are very mistaken. In fact, climate change, mass immigration and many other leftist policies are all different aspects of the same social engineering agenda. Their purpose is to justify more central control by a few elitists, while depriving the masses of the means or the will to resist.

      Bottom line, it’s all politics.

  5. If we are going to talk about illegals, then look up Trump’s lack of support for the Border Patrol; and Sheriff Joe Arpio, not to mention Michael Savage.

  6. While hindsight is 20/20, we need to vet our State and Federal leadership better. What did he stand for if he vacillated so much?
Secondly, he was one person prior to being President, and another after. What or who, got to him?
His signature legislation of healthcare is collapsing as insurance companies run away at record levels, no one can afford it, they expect the money fairies to save the day.
Lastly, I am certainly no better off after his 8 year term and my taxes are higher. A sad comment on his promise to better our lives. I don’t see the poor or seniors better off at all and the middle class was abandoned and their savings gutted…
